We’re Obsessed With These Local, Ethical Brands
I’m sure you’re familiar with the above phrase, a verse that has been used for years to not only admire but to show appreciation to those South African artists, creators, braai-ers, baristas and workers. I cannot stress enough how important it is for South Africans to support each other’s ideas and brands and to encourage others to do so as well. Not only does it improve our sense of community, but with each other’s support, we can build a better economy for South Africa.
In this week’s blog, we’re applauding 4 extraordinary South African brands for basically existing!
Danielle Frylinck
This ethical brand is owned by girl boss Danielle Frylinck. A name so pretty, she started a brand after it! The brand believes that every piece of clothing we own carries a story.
Why We Love Them
Not only are they an ethical, proudly South African brand, the brand is also owned by an incredible female entrepreneur who creates timeless pieces, handmade right here in South Africa.
They use beautiful fabrics to create simple but timeless silhouettes. They cater to every woman and their pieces are well priced for the amazing quality you’re getting. What’s not to love!? Check out their incredible new range here.
Something Good Studio
We absolutely adore this art and textiles brand! ‘Something Good Studio celebrates South African artistry through textile collaborations with female-only creatives.’ If that’s not a brand you can get behind then I don’t know what is! They’re a design studio with a cause and we are totally here for it!
Why We Love Them
They’re constantly on the hunt for local, female talent to create playful and aesthetically pleasing fashion pieces and homeware. They combine art and design to create the most beautiful, abstract pieces. They’re on a mission to create with intention and to do as much good as they can along the way. Do yourselves a favour and check out this inspiring brand here. Their pieces will give you heart-eyes for days!
Imprint
This luxury fashion brand is making waves, not only in the South African fashion industry but all over the world. Their collections are breathtaking and it’s very plain to see that they’re a proud, home-grown brand!
Why We Love Them
Their mission is to create iconic glamour pieces as well as to tell the stories of their ancestors using iconic African prints. Inspired by colourful patterns, streetwear and all things vintage, this eclectic brand has imprinted on our hearts. (Get it? Whatever, it’s Monday.)

Asha Eleven
This aesthetically pleasing brand was founded by Olivia Kennaway in 2018. Being Kenyan, Olivia finds ways to incorporate their traditional skill sets and designs into her brand.
Why We Love Them
I mean, have you seen their Instagram? Talk about inspo for days! They believe that the future of the fashion industry is one where sustainability is the norm, where we will no longer need to talk about it, educate, drive for change and we cannot agree more! They’re all about timeless, trans-seasonal pieces that last. Their chic designs and use of natural, earthy tones make us wanna snatch up every damn product they sell! Check out their drool-worthy pieces here.
Until next month darlings! Be well, stay hydrated and remember that there's no such thing as too much coffee.
